Welcome
Welcome! My name is Dr. Emily Andresen (she/her) and I help clients understand how experiences and thought patterns from their past are preventing them from living the kind of life they want today. Before starting therapy, many of my client have said things like:
“I feel stuck and don’t know how to move forward.”
“I don’t want to be controlled by my fear and anxiety.
“I can’t let go of this painful experience.”
“I feel overwhelmed and don’t know how to manage.”
“Moving on from my past relationship seems impossible.”
“I just don’t feel like myself anymore.”
In therapy I will help you gain insight into the root of your suffering and help you gain the skills and insight necessary to help you live a fuller and more joyful life.
Areas of Expertise
-
I help clients who are navigating the challenges that are unique to women. This includes postpartum anxiety and depression, as well as intergenerational trauma and attachment issues. Becoming a mother can be incredibly stressful. Everything from simple things like your daily schedule to more core issues like your relationships and identify are totally transformed. I can help you move from a place where you feel like you are just coping to a place where you feel like you are thriving and prepared for both the joys and challenges of motherhood.
I also work with women who are experiencing mood changes and anxiety associated with menopause as well as the life transitions (parenting, aging parents and changing roles) associated with mid-life. These can be challenging times but I help women discover the potential for growth and reinvention of themselves.

Young adulthood can be an exciting time but it can also be time full of questions about college, one’s career, relationships, and identity. I help young adults develop the necessary skills and sense of self that they need to succeed during these challenging time.

Parenting is difficult but it can be even more challenging when your child is autistic or has ADHD. Parents often feel overwhelmed, frustrated or angry with themselves or the situation. Often issues with parenting can lead to to tension with your partner or extended family. I understand these challenges and I am here to help you move from a place of “just getting through to the day” to a space where you feel rested and capable of handling the road ahead.
